Setup checklist and tours

Home shows a panel called “Set up Timothy”. It lists eight steps and counts how many are done, for example “3 of 8 done”. A bar shows the same progress.

Step Done when
“Add a model provider” A chat model works.
“Send your first chat” Timothy has answered a chat message.
“Run your first mission” A mission has succeeded.
“Connect an account or a chat channel” You have connected at least one account or chat channel.
“Give Timothy knowledge” You have at least one knowledge collection.
“See what Timothy remembers” You have opened Memory.
“Automate something” You have opened Automations.
“Check costs” You have opened Analytics.

Each open step has an “Open” button that takes you to the right page. “Run your first mission” also has a “Run a sample mission” button. See Sample mission.

The checklist cannot be hidden until a chat model works. After that, a “Dismiss” button hides it.

While the checklist is open, the sidebar shows a small ring with the progress, for example “Setup 3/8”. Click it to go back to Home. The ring goes away when every step is done or when you dismiss the checklist.

These pages show a short tour the first time you open them: Chat, Missions, the new mission form, Automations, Knowledge, Memory, Analytics and Settings.

A tour points at parts of the page, one step at a time. Use “Next” and “Back” to move, or “Skip” to close it. The last step has “Done”. The keyboard works too: Enter or the right arrow moves on, the left arrow goes back and Escape closes the tour.

Each tour shows once. Timothy remembers that you saw it, on the server, so it does not come back in another browser. While a page shows a setup notice, for example because no chat model works, its tour waits.

The Help menu is the question mark button in the top bar. It has these items:

  • “Setup checklist” shows the checklist on Home again, even after you dismissed it.
  • “Restart this page’s tour” plays the tour of the page you are on. It is greyed out on pages without a tour.
  • “Restart welcome” opens the welcome wizard again.
  • “Docs” opens this documentation site in a new tab.

The same items appear in the “Help” group of the “Search or jump to…” box in the top bar. Open it with Cmd+K on a Mac or Ctrl+K on other systems.
